Tour Overview
On the first day of this tour, you’ll see the best that the Angkor Archaeological Park has to offer. We’ll start the tour with a visit to Angkor Wat, the reason why most people come to visit Siem Reap. Angkor Wat attracts over 2 millions visitors per year and is the largest temple built during the Khmer empire.
After exploring the massive Angkor Wat, we’ll head over to Preah Khan. Which is another 12th century temple built by the famous king Jayavarman VII. Unlike many other temples, Preah Khan has been left to the elements. It’s been made safe for visitors, but very little restoration work has taken place here.
Finally, we will visit the majestic Bayon temple. This temple has remnants of Hindu inscriptions as well as both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist incriptions. It’s a fascinating temple and usually a favourite of most visitors. We’ll spend a few hours exploring all the nooks and crannies of this amazing temple.
We’ll see one of the highlights of your visit to Siem Reap – Banteay Srei. This unique temple is made from pink sandstone from the quarries in the Kulen Mountain range. It is also home to some intricate carvings which if the legend is true, were carved by women. It’s said that the carvings are too beautiful to have been carved by men!
On this one-day tour, you’ll get to visit one of the most sacred places in all of Cambodia. Phnom Kulen was the start of the Khmer empire when the king declared victory over the Java people and Khmer Empire was born. Here we can stop to relax by the waterfall, or you can cool off by taking a swim in the river. We’ll also get to see the largest reclining Buddha in Cambodia.
We will visit Ta Prohm which is also known as the Tomb Raider temple. This famous temple was used as a set for the Tomb Raider Movie starring Angelina Jolie. This old temple has been left to the elements and the jungle is growing through the middle of the building.
On the third day, we’ll stop to see some of the other temples located nearby to Angkor Wat. These temples are dotted throughout the park and we’ll make a loop to see them all.
You’ll see Banteay Kdei, Ta Nei, Takeo, Thammanon, East Mebon, Ta Som, and Neak Pean.
