Tour Overview

On this one-day tour, we’ll take you to go and see two of the most unique temples in Cambodia. Both are located outside of Siem Reap town and there will be a few hours driving to reach our destination and return to Siem Reap.

Koh Ker is an amazing complex featuring many temples. The largest temple is Prasat Thom which is a 7-tiered pyramid style temple. On this tour, we will visit the larger and more important temples in the complex. It doesn’t look like any other temple built by the Khmer and this has led to some experts to believe that maybe the Khmer had some extraterrestrial help when building this temple. We will spend a few hours exploring the pyramid and surrounding area. The whole temple is sat in the middle of dense jungle and due to its location, you won’t find thousands of tourists here. You can explore Koh Ker in relative peace and quiet.

Koh Ker is made up of around 50 smaller temples around a large baray. Koh Ker was briefly the capital city of the Khmer Empire and is a large site to explore.

We’ll also see Beng Mealea which was once a temple located on an ancient highway connected the main temples of Angkor to Preah Khan in Kampong Svay. Nowadays, you’ll see some stunning ruins which look similar to Angkor Wat. Beng Mealea is a large temple, but still dwarfs in size when compared to the world-famous Angkor Wat. Beng Mealea is a unique temple in Cambodia because the jungle has literally grown through the middle of the structure. Trees and other foliage slowly took over Beng Mealea as it was abandoned in the 15th century.
